Ronica Ondocsin was born and raised in Fayetteville, TN and moved to the Huntsville/Madison
area in 1985 to attend the University of Alabama Huntsville. She graduated from UAH in 1987 with a Bachelors
Degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Alabama. Ronica previously worked with
the US Army Corps of Engineers and Space and Strategic Defense Command before leaving full-time employment to spend more time
raising her children. She has spent the last several years doing consulting work in engineering and volunteer
work with school, church, and civic organizations. Ronica is a member of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County and is
a graduate of Focus Class 25.
Ronica and her family have lived
in Madison since 2007. She and her husband Bill, a NASA engineer, have been married 18 years and have two
children. Abbi is a sophomore at Bob Jones High School. Jack is a fourth
grader at Rainbow Elementary and enjoys playing baseball in the Madison Baseball Association (MBA) and basketball in the Basketball
Association of Madison (BAM).
Ronica has always had an interest in construction and architecture and has enjoyed
serving on the Madison Station Historic Preservation Commission since 2008. She has also become involved in Madison City School
athletics by taking on the position of treasurer for the Bob Jones High School Volleyball boosters. Being
involved in the community was her motivating factor in seeking the District 7 Council seat. She was appointed
to the Madison City Council in December 2010 to fill the seat vacated by Bill Holtzclaw due to his resignation when he was
elected to the Alabama State Senate in November of 2010.
